International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

This year’s event will feature Martesha Johnson, Nashville Metropolitan Public Defender who will share how she has lived a life of “Choosing to Challenge”.

Phyllis Hildreth, First Lady of Meharry Medical College will serve as the host.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is providing the funding. The purpose of the Delta program is to fund organizations located in eight Delta states (Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee) to address unmet local health care needs and prevalent health disparities through the development of new and innovative projects in Delta communities.
